Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP)
RCP has experienced staff and the right tools to assist pipeline operators to efficiently manage MAOP, safety set point and associated data. Changes to MAOP can have a
direct impact to the bottom line. Many companies are finding that changes to the pipeline that have occurred over years significantly impact the calculated MAOP value.
Companies that operate large and complex gas pipeline systems face the difficult task of maintaining those assets while complying with code and continuing to operate.
Continuous system additions and changes, implemented by diverse groups across the company, result in tedious data driven studies to ensure that operating pressure strictly
complies with code. Multiple studies, over time, performed by different people with diverse knowledge and experience remains a prescription for inconsistency and ultimately
confusion. RCP has created MAOP Calculator tools and a MAOP Analysis Model to resolve the inconsistencies.
MAOP Calculator Tools
RCP can show you how the management of code-compliant operating pressures can be simplified and made more efficient by implementing a well conceived GIS system in
conjunction with a MAOP calculator. The benefits of using RCP's MAOP calculator tools include the reduction of effort and expense required to ensure that complex and
changing pipelines are operated at appropriate pressures while accommodating the maximization of asset throughput capacity.
The GIS system in league with RCP's MAOP calculator becomes the central repository for all pipe related data including MAOP and MOP. Once data is posted correctly to the
system, it is correct from that time forward and can be easily accessed.

MAOP Analysis Model
RCP can input the data including pressure test records, construction design records, and repair records to derive an accurate MAOP for your current system. The model also
allows you to review the impact on MAOP of proposed changes to the pipeline before they happen.
The RCP model serves as an efficient tool to support both internal and external compliance audits. A detailed report can be produced in minutes and will include recent
changes to the asset and the exact code paragraph that the asset is operating under. The model brings consistency to MAOP calls. Instead of relying upon multiple people
making independent interpretations of code, MAOP will be calculated for every segment of pipe using the same “fixed in stone” algorithm.
